For Always

Hello! Welcome to Crafting With Carolyn!!

Today you are in for a special treat!! The Damask Divas and I have gotten together in a fun Blog Hop featuring a BRAND NEW paper pack from the new Close To My Heart Spring/Summer 2013 Idea Book!! Isn't this SO exciting?!! Brand new paper and here we are with ideas, suggestions and hopefully inspiration on what to do with it!

So, if you've come from Latisha's Blog you are in the right place!! If you just happened across my blog randomly (Thank You for reading) and I hope you'll continue on around the hop or start from the beginning at the Damask Diva's Blog!

Now for my project.....

I have decided to make a gift using the For Always paper pack. I have never made a hand made gift for the intended recipient but I thought it was the perfect time to let them know - I've got their back .... For Always.  I started with a poem. Yes, for those of you who do not know I like to write. I'd love to write a book one day but for now I stick to poems and letters. I haven't written a poem in quite some time but the words came to me and they just happened to tie into the For Always theme. So.... SORRY but I can not share the poem with you all until the recipient has read it first!!

I started with a wooden plaque from Michaels which I painted the outside with a Metallic Silver acrylic paint and I covered the top flat part with the For Always paper that comes in the For Always Card Making Workshop on the Go Kit. I used some scotch spray adhesive to apply the paper so that it would be super fast drying and good to decorate right away. Next I typed up and printed out the poem on a light purple cardstock page that is not in the kit - I just had it on hand. I cut and trimmed all the poem sections so that they would fit onto my plaque. It was hard work but I got it. Next I cut a mini book page from the CTMH Artiste Cartridge (removed the holes for the mini book using my Gypsy since I would not need them) from the Whisper cardstock that comes in the WOTG. I used this as a pretty background for my poem. I took each section of my poem trimmed down all the way and then glued them onto strips of paper from the For Always paper pack. I tried to do a little of a pattern, white, black, white, black but it's not really all that important!  Using my CTMH Art Philosophy Cartridge I cut out 6 of the 3D flowers. 3 in Smokey Plum (from the WOTG) and 3 in the light purple (not in kit). The 3D flowers are 3.5"w. Roll these up, glue them, let dry. I did ink the flowers. You should do this before rolling them - if you choose to.

The pretty rosette was super easy and fast. I LOVED that For Always script pattern and just had to use it. I then added the Smokey Plum circle and the For Always chevron pattern because it's fun! I dug through my new toys to find the embellishments that I felt fit perfectly.

I hot glued the flowers, rosette and  embellishments you see and then added the 3 pretty purple sparkles (from the WOTG kit) and then used ribbon and a staple gun to the back so that the recipient can hang their plaque =) I started on this today and I worked all morning. It took me about 4 hours to complete it. I will most likely add their initial to that rosette and deliver it as a nice surprise.

Thanks for visiting my blog today! I really do think you will totally enjoy the rest of the blog hop so please do continue around visiting everyone. There is a prize somewhere along the hop so make sure to look out for it. Enjoy!!
