Valentine's Day Centerpieces

Hello! Today I am participating in the Damask Diva's Blog Hop featuring the Whoo's Your Valentine Kit!!

If you've just come from Stephanie's Blog- The Gypsy Chic you are in the right place!  If just you just happened across my blog you should visit The Damask Divas blog to start from the beginning or follow all the links around until you've gone through them all! We have a bunch of SUPER talented ladies here so I know you wont be disappointed!

If you haven't picked up the Whooo's Your Valentine kit yet you are missing out on a SUPER cute stamp set, the new glitter paper and treat tubes, which are both sneak peeks into the Spring/Summer 2013 line of products!!

The Whooo's Your Valentine Kit retails for $40, but it can be yours for only $10 when you spend $35 or more in Close To My Heart product. The kit includes 12 die-cut boxes, 3 cardstock sheets, 1 sheet of silver glitter paper, 12 treat tubes, and an exclusive D-size stamp set created specifically for the kit! This kit is available until January 31st so hurry, hurry!!!

Using this awesome Whooo's Your Valentine kit I made Valentine's Day Centerpieces for the elementary school that my younger two children attend. We're having a Sweetheart Lunch this year and I have been asked to decorate the cafeteria for this special day!

I used a lot of Close To My Heart products in my craft so bare with me!! First for my cuts I used BOTH the Art Philosophy and Artiste Cartridges. The flowers are from the Art Philosophy and the box is from Artiste. The pink paper on the top of the box is Roxy - which sadly is retired but I got a bulk pack from the While Supplies Last section so you all should keep your eyes on what products (paper especially) pop up there from time to time.

Ok, so basic instructions... I made the box using the Artiste. It's on page 74 in the Artiste booklet. I reinforced the box with a bit of cardboard (cereal box) around the inside of the box. I also used my Gypsy to cut a circle in the top part of the box so that the treat tube would fit in there. The treat tubes came with the kit, I filled those with shredded construction paper and hearts cut out to make confetti. They are tiny hearts! Only 1/2". I realized that I have to make 16 of these and if I used all hearts I would need thousands so I added the shredded paper to help take up space.

Small Tip --- for my shredded paper I used all the scraps that were left after cutting all of my flowers for the topiary. I typically recycle the scraps that I can't use but since I needed filler I got crafty! I now plan on shredding more scraps to keep them on hand for future crafts and baskets! Think: Easter baskets, gift baskets, anything really!

The cute little rosette I made using a 1x12" piece of paper. and the circle from the top of the box on one side and I stamped "You're Sweet" using the exclusive Whooo's Your Valentine stamp set on scrap paper and cut the circle out. The silver trim around the base is 1/2 x 12". Both the rosette paper and silver trim are also in the kit. The stick or stem of the flower is actually a Valentine's Pencil that I bought in the $1 section at Target! For MY favorite part the flowers  - I used a 2" styrofoam ball. I purchased them at Michaels in 6 packs. This was the most expensive part of the craft but if you can find some coupons save yourself 40%!! The flowers were cut 3.5" on random scraps of pink, white and red papers from my scrap box!! ***Yay for cleaning out scrap box!!*** One flower on top is 5" wide. I used 30 small flowers and one big one. The flowers are the most time consuming part of the project so cut them out and sit in front of your tv!! I like to roll them all first then go back to glue them. Letting them dry overnight.

I plan on making each centerpiece similar but with subtle differences and making the most of that adorable Whooo's Your Valentine stamp set!! I'll be sure to share more photos when I get more done!

    1. Thanks!! I'm trying to figure out a way to give them away after. It's actually not a dinner it's lunch with the kiddos at our elementary school but all the same, yes I thought either I'd draw names and give them to teachers or to the parents. I'm just not 100% sure what I'll do yet.
